U.S. Routes 41 and 76 passes through the center of town as Nashville Street, leading northwest 17 miles to downtown Chattanooga, Tennessee, and southeast 15 miles to Dalton, Georgia. Interstate 75 leads northwest to Chattanooga and southeast 101 miles to Atlanta. The climate in this area is characterized by relatively high temperatures and evenly distributed precipitation throughout the year.
